Last Sunday I headed down to Santa Clara in the South Bay for a photo session with a beautiful girl named Dasha. We decided to take some pictures in a nearby park, and thankfully the weather was just as gorgeous as ever! I had a blast wondering around the park with her and talking about all the fun things she likes to do. She is a total sweetheart, which no doubt comes from her incredible parents!
Last week we did a shoot for a beautiful singer named Sherie Julianne Friedlander. Sherie was looking for some fun photography for her upcoming Brazilian music album. She is an extraordinary singer and is so much fun to see in concert – she really brings down the house! For her shoot, we wanted her to be bathed in a lot of soft light with soft shadows. To do this, we used two back lights on either side of the subject fitted with small shoot-thru umbrellas, a large softbox as the main front light, with a beauty dish for fill. She was so wonderful to shoot and I’m really looking forward to working with her again in the future!
I recently had the opportunity to shoot Nicholas Bennison during one of his live DJ sets. The event took place in San Francisco. I packed a small bag which included my Canon 5D, pocket wizards, and a single off-camera flash. In an environment like this, where the lights are constantly changing, proper exposure can be a real challenge. It was a long night, but all went smoothly. Nicholas delivered, as always, and the crowd couldn’t get enough! When it came time to shut down at around 3am, the crowd wouldn’t leave and began chanting for Nicholas to continue playing!! A memorable night indeed.
