Master trance producer Nicholas Bennison recently released his full length artist album, Tension Of Opposites. What a stunning body of work! It’s always fun to see our photography in context, and I think the album artwork is pretty cool. Here’s the magazine ad:
What an amazing night this was, full of familiar faces and unbelievable music! Karen Monte lit up the stage at the Berkeley Jazz School while debuting her newest venture into the sounds of electronic-jazz fusion. I decided to take a few pictures during the show, pulling in as much ambient light as possible for a soft, warm image. Balanced the ambient with some fill from my Canon 580 EX II on camera. I recently had the opportunity to shoot Nicholas Bennison during one of his live DJ sets. The event took place in San Francisco. I packed a small bag which included my Canon 5D, pocket wizards, and a single off-camera flash. In an environment like this, where the lights are constantly changing, proper exposure can be a real challenge. It was a long night, but all went smoothly. Nicholas delivered, as always, and the crowd couldn’t get enough! When it came time to shut down at around 3am, the crowd wouldn’t leave and began chanting for Nicholas to continue playing!! A memorable night indeed.
Los Angeles based DJ and producer Nicholas Bennison asked us to setup a shoot for his upcoming artist album. What an incredible experience this turned out to be! Probably the hardest yet most rewarding shoot to date. We shot mostly on location in various parts of Los Angeles, using small off camera flash units and pocket wizards. Multiple locations spanning two days – the sheer volume of images was mind boggling! Needless to say we were exhausted. But Nicholas was a trooper and I think all of our hard work paid off.
